In 2017 Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi as well as Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it became the most-streamed song in just 6 months. The single Despacito, a mixture of reggaeton and pop was not only a way to bring new attention to reggaeton music but also increased interest in Latin music. Billboard's Top 100 in 2015 had two songs mostly of Spanish and in 2016 there were four. At the peak of Despacito's popularity in 2017 however 19 mostly Spanish songs made it to the top 100 In 2020, there were 41 songs. Justin Bieber re-mixed Despacito with an English version in the year 2017 shortly after which famous artists started working with reggaeton artists. Drake teamed with Bad Bunny to create MIA (2018), while Madonna worked on Medellin together with Maluma (2019). In the year 2020, some Reggaeton musicians were complaining about the trend of their genre to the mainstream. But a newer generation such as Rauw Alejandro was determined to continue the evolution. It was often associated with electronic dance and other types.
