Lexis was raised in a family that played golf and would have plenty of knowledge with the sport. In 2007, she became the youngest golfer who qualified for US Women's Open. The tournament was not won, however she became second that year after being the winner of the Aldila Junior Classic. The most junior American Junior Golf Association member to ever be awarded the championship, she also won the Westfield Junior PGA Championship in the same year.
